Solution:

The speed squared is \(v^2 = 6^2 + (-8)^2 = 100\text{ m}^2\text{/s}^2\). The kinetic energy is \(KE = \frac{1}{2}mv^2 = \frac{1}{2}(0.4)(100) = 20\text{ J}\).
